SEO is an ever changing game but 2019 seems quite different to us here after looking at various niches and how they are structured. The first thing we notice is Google is leaning towards local results even for large broad keywords. For example for one of our clients who sells electric bike conversion kits there are a range of big keywords for this niche including ebike conversion kit. When we type this into Google we are seeing a local search box but we are not sure why. This is not a local service we are looking for but a product of course so why are we seeing a local pack for this result?
Another ting we have noticed is that spam is still working. Now we are 100% against this but we see other people doing it and it seems to be working although these people seem very advanced so I am sure it is a calculated risk. This will always be a factor no matter what happens we think so this is nothing too new or anything.a
Using the ebike conversion kit website example we can see that there are mostly old domains in that niche but with very few backlinks. Backlinks do not seem as big a factor as before and age seems to be very important now even more so that it used to be. For our electric bike website example we are looking to pump out plenty of content rather than focus on any link building. Good content seems to be picked up better than before so maybe Google is getting better at understanding our content.
Going forward content, social media and local listing seem to be what we are seeing here as big factors in ranking. Maybe this is an experiment who knows as it does seem like some pages are all over the place randomly!
