Blackrock Cabs

01 September 2010

Creditors of Blackrock Cabs Ltd, the company formerly owned by alleged conman Breifne O’Brien, have been called to a meeting next week to discuss the possibility of a liquidator being appointed to the firm.

O’Brien is alleged to have run a pyramid scheme, which involved taking millions of euro from amongst other people his long-time friends and brother-in-law. In December 2008 a judge in the High Court made an order that O’Brien maintain his assets about €20 million.

In November of last year two brothers, Co Tipperary farmers Louis and Robert Dowley successfully secured orders from the High Court transferring assets held by O’Brien to the Dublin County Sheriff, including his holding in Blackrock Cabs Ltd. These holdings were sold, but a buyer was not found for Blackrock Cabs.

The meeting will take place at the Harcourt Hotel next Wednesday, September 9, at 10.0am.
